Exclamation Help, I've got over 26 million Turkish liras!

OLD ones, I'm afraid. Is there a bank in TRNC where I can exchange them for Yeni Turk Liras?
I'll be flying into Larnaca and would like to know if it's possible to visit the north for a couple of days (day trip's too short time for me) before returning to the south to fly back to Gatwick? If so, are there many inexpensive pansiyons to stay in Girne/Kyrenia? Ideally, I would like to stay in Karakoy (or is it Karaman?) but that's probably out of my budget. Last question, is it easy to find a place to rent a motorbike for a day or two? Thanxx.

I would take it to the bank and see if they will exchange it for you.

Hi
Yes its easy to cross the line into the North, you'll need your passport. There are many places you can stay, especially around this time of year. There are a couple of places near to Karaman. You have the Hideaway at Edrimet which is situated half way up the hill to Karaman, St Hilarion Holiday Village, this is just as you enter the village, Karaman, or there are a couple just before the turning to Edrimet on the sea front. Both of the ones I have mentioned are reasonably cheap and cheerful. They are both featured in the holiday brochures for N.Cyprus so should be easy to find.
You'll find it more difficult to rent a motorbike. At this time of year a car will cost around £10 per day inclusive of insurance Or you can always bring a car over from the South but you'll need to purchase insurance as you cross the line though.

Default Lira

I think it's only worth £10 anyway so I'd put it in a charity currency box.

Smile No problem getting rid of them.

Thank for your responses guys. After crossing the border at Ledra Palace, I had a meal in a lokanta in Nicosia. They were happy to accept my old liras. A guy sitting at another table changed the remainder. Very easy.
I stayed in a hotel in Girne paying 30 YTL a night. OK price but not including breakfast. I never eat them anyway. I stayed in Gazi Magosa and on the Dipkarpaz peninsula as well. Ended up not renting a motorbike during my stay. Frequent minibuses and easy hitchhiking solved my transport problems. I stayed in TRNC for a total of 10 days and the other 4 days in the South. I got a return flight from Gatwick to Larnaca for £94. Not bad I think.
Now I'm back in London trying to keep warm!!
